MDA provided Project Management, Cost Management and Quality Audit services on this flagship project, which was delivered to the Council below budget and on time. The building now forms an iconic landmark in Guildford and has the capacity to accommodate 1,000 people seated or 1,700 if customers are offered a combination of seated and standing tickets.

The Bristol office of MDA are pleased to have been associated with the recent opening of three high profile museum projects in the space of a few weeks namely The Holburne Museum in Bath, Tyntesfield near Bristol and M Shed the new Museum of Bristol.

In our role as Advisor and Lead Monitor, MDA provided specialist advice to the HLF as part of the grant assessment process and then acted throughout the development phase advising on all aspects of the projects including risk, project management, budget and procurement as well as authorising all payments.

MDA has been providing the full range of cost consultancy services on all major construction works at the All England Club for more than 25 years, starting with the modernisation of the old No.1 Court and improvements to the Centre Court debenture areas followed by the complete redevelopment of No.1 Court, and the construction of the Broadcast Centre to look after the world’s press. Then there was Millennium Building with its improved player and member facilities and the Museum Building, which houses the Club offices and interactive museum.

More recently, there was the Centre Court upgrade including the retractable roof and further improved debenture facilities, closely followed by the new No.2 Court both completed in time for the 2009 Championships.

This year has seen the opening of the new No.3 Court and improved debenture facilities to No.1 Court, including feature roof canopies and new bar & dining areas. In between times, there have been other lower profile projects including improvements to the outside courts, new Toilet Blocks, Gatehouses, Maintenance Facilities and Boundary Wall works.

Design work is now nearing completion on proposed improvements to the players areas within the Millennium Building including an innovative feature ‘Bubble’, to look out on St. Mary’s Walk. This will house a new lounge on two levels to complement upgraded reception and back of house areas.

The procurement process has already started and enabling works to divert services and install steelwork connections are under way. This will allow a fast start for the main works immediately after the Olympics next summer.

Despite the restricted time frame, the project is scheduled for completion in time for the 2013 Championships.

The Club is always looking for ways to improve its product for the players, its members, the public and the worldwide TV audience. MDA is proud of our long and successful association with the Club and look forward with confidence to meeting the continued challenge of working on a restricted site, with limited construction windows, for many years to come.
