Managing Director’s
Report

The turnover and profit achieved in the reporting period together
with an increased profile in the marketplace are a reflection of
our investment in the BD/Marketing team and functions. Further
investment is planned during the coming year.
Graduate Training and Support
Currently we have nine graduates/junior members of staff in the
UK working towards their professional qualifications, all at different
stages of the process. Two others passed their examinations and
became chartered surveyors during the year, one in May, the other
after the end of the reporting period in November.
We are striving to continually improve the training and support for our
graduates. The feedback from all is positive and we are confident of
further examination success this year and in the future.
We attended various graduate recruitment roadshows at our
preferred universities in the UK in October and November and have
vacancies in our London, Manchester, Birmingham and Brighton
offices. We are looking to fill these by Summer 2017.
Charities
Our chosen charity for 2016/2017 is the Evelina London Children’s
Hospital. This provides lifesaving equipment and research and better
facilities above and beyond that which the NHS can supply and has a
special significance for MDA.
We are also pleased to be supporting the Matt Hampson Foundation
by providing project management, cost consulting and principal
designer services for the Get Busy Living Centre in Leicestershire.
The Centre is the initiative of Matt Hampson, a former England
under 21 rugby player who suffered a life changing accident during
a training session in 2005.
The Get Busy Living Centre project involves the transformation of
a disused aircraft hangar near Melton Mowbray into a state of the
art facility to provide physical rehabilitation, support and assistance.
The Centre aims to bring together young people seriously injured
through sport and help them face their new lives.
The Future
Despite the uncertainty following the UK’s decision the exit the
European Union I am confident about MDA’s future.
Whilst there is clearly still work to do, we have good people, a positive
culture and a business plan in place to achieve further growth and
profitability. I am looking forward to working with all our Directors and
staff to make the firm a sustained success and build further on the
progress made to date.
