Celebrating our Chairman, Kevin Heaton, as he enters his 46th year with MDA, having joined us in August 1975. 

Congratulations to Kevin! 

Kevin first joined the company in 1975 undertaking his training with MDA, obtaining a BSc (Hons) in 1981 and becoming Chartered in 1983. Kevin has been a Director since 1999 and was responsible for the Bristol Office, and operations throughout the South West, from 1999 to 2020 before becoming Chairman in April 2020.

He became a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors in 1995 and served as a member of the South West regional RICS QS committee for several years. Kevin is also a Member of the Association for Project Management.

Kevin has extensive experience on a variety of projects across the private and public sectors and has worked on several high profile projects of significant capital value. He specialises in providing strategic and cost management advice to a wide range of clients across a number of sectors including heritage, cultural, education, commercial and local government. In particular he has considerable experience of providing consultancy advice as technical advisor and lead project/fund monitor for funding institutions including banks and has undertaken a number of specialist forensic audits on behalf of clients.

Kevin is a widely respected Consultant to the National Lottery Heritage Fund and has acted as fund advisor, monitor and mentor on some of the largest heritage projects in the UK over the past twenty years and is head of the company’s Heritage and Conservation sector. 

He has worked on overseas projects in Indonesia, Bermuda and Russia and has acted as expert witness as part of MDA’s Dispute Resolution Team. Kevin produces the company’s Tender Price Forecast article as part of MDA’s regular technical bulletin ‘MDA Briefing’ issued to clients and industry colleagues. 

Kevin is a full member of MCC (elected 1995) and is a member of the Oriental Club in London and the University and Literary Club in Bristol. He is a past Chairman of Bristol Interact.
