Rob McGuinn, head of our Leicester Office and Chairman of Team Leicester for MIPIM 2019, talks to the Leicester Mercury about MIPIM, Brexit, PRS and all things construction related.
Rob said "MIPIM is the perfect place to showcase exactly what Leicestershire has to offer.
Obviously the Space Park is a big thing this year, but there are plenty of private investment opportunities in the city, with developers always looking for sites.
Lots of investors are looking for Private Rental Sector (PRS) sites outside London now, following the European model which is less based around home ownership.
With a shortage of housing, the private rental sector is growing.
A lot of the money for these schemes is from overseas and is coming to the UK because it’s seen as such a good investment. There are huge schemes going up in the city and more will follow, providing the sites are available, and I don’t think Brexit is affecting things – we have not seen any physical evidence of anything being delayed.
We all know there is uncertainty and some development lenders might be a little bit more cautious, but no-one has pulled out of any of our schemes because of Brexit."
