Sulgrave Gardens Scheme

Friday February 7th 2014

MDA Consulting are delighted that Octavia Housing’s Sulgrave Gardens scheme has been shortlisted as Sustainable Project of the Year at the Building Awards 2014. MDA acted as Cost Consultant, Employer’s Representative and CDM Coordinator, as well as dealing with Party Wall and boundary matters on behalf of the client.

This 30 unit scheme comprises flats, maisonettes and houses built using industry-leading PassivHaus principles with six of the houses being certified to full PassivHaus standards. An exemplar model for the UK building industry, this scheme is one of the first mixed-tenure PassivHaus developments in the UK and one of the few PassivHaus schemes to be set in a city context. A combination of super insulation, minimised thermal bridging and triple glazing are some of the features that will result in homes saving up to 90% of standard heating bills for the occupiers.

Completed in September 2013, Sulgrave Gardens consists of four blocks providing a mix of 9 affordable rent units, 13 shared ownership homes and 8 town and mews houses for private sale.
