Redevelopment of Grade II Listed City Museum and Art Gallery and Central Library buildings to create new galleries, central library and archive for the City’s Museum.
New archive to also house the UK’s largest regional film archive (SWFTA) and regional photographic archive (SWIB). The new building also houses the National Figureheads collection, on long-term loan from the National Museum of the Royal Navy.
The project also includes the redevelopment and restoration of the historic St Luke’s Church into new exhibition space.
The new galleries include a major exhibition, the ‘Mayflower Exhibition,’ commemorating the 400th anniversary of the sailing of the Mayflower.
